(posted 11/21/01) I'm not the best judge of my own work, especially where this type of piece is concerned. But, I've had some very positive feedback on this film, and I sure like it, for whatever that's worth. Here's all I'm going to say: "Violence and Drums" is an extended metaphor, and an argument of juxtaposition. Beyond that, it will have to speak for itself. |

(posted 2/14/02) Kevin is an awfully modest filmmaker, which makes his films endearing in their lack of pretention, a rarity in the vast wasteland of student work. Here, the star of 'violence and drums' is not the drummer, (albeit amazing in his own right) but the camerawork: anything less creative might look like a pratice tape. Luckily, kevin wields the lens in enough interesting ways for the film to transcend what the subject matter is. Pretty fucking cool, i say. |
